Welcome to the 2024 Health Equity in Action: Communities Forward Summit!

We’re thrilled you are here. During the next two days, this Summit is gathering health equity experts from across the healthcare ecosystem, community leaders and future leaders all exploring solutions to advance health equity and inspire and sustain each other.

With a focus on our Rising Leaders in Health, Day 1 will expose students to the healthcare field, provide resources to support their pursuit of health careers and encourage engagement in efforts that can help promote equitable healthcare for their communities.

On Day 2, health equity experts and community leaders will have the opportunity to share insights and contribute to conversations with a focus on driving systemic change across four priority areas: Workforce Pathways, Policy, Research and Data, and Healthcare Facilities and Delivery.

On behalf of Pfizer’s Multicultural Health Equity Collective, Morehouse School of Medicine, the National Association of County & City Health Officials, the National Caucus of Native American State Legislators and The Century Foundation, we thank you for your passion and commitment to creating positive impact. We hope you’ll leave this gathering feeling more informed, connected and inspired.

Health Equity in Action Summit: Communities Forward

Achieving health equity requires multi-generational, and multi-sector efforts; yet the actions we take today are critical to driving progress and delivering renewed value for our communities and the healthcare system. Today, The Pfizer Multicultural Health Equity Collective—The Collective—is working alongside national health advocacy and research organizations, policymakers, and community-based partners to convene its second Health Equity in Action Summit: Communities Forward, an in-person convening to be held this October in Oklahoma City.

Join ~200 global health and health equity experts, practitioners, policymakers, industry representatives, and advocates from historically underserved and underrepresented communities who are dedicated to making the healthcare system work better for everyone, everywhere.

In a time of growing polarization, the Summit seeks to center the health equity ecosystem on the communities most impacted, providing a collaborative space where attendees can:

Informed by a survey on systemic racism in healthcare among healthcare professionals, the Summit tracks will cover a variety of themes across four key areas:

Healthcare Facilities & Delivery

Helping to build community-centered healthcare delivery systems.

Research & Data

Addressing racial biases embedded into algorithms to gain greater insight into the health needs of underrepresented populations.

Workforce Pathways

Fostering young talent and early education systems to create a pipeline for a more diverse and representative health workforce.

Policy

Advancing local, state, county, and federal policies addressing systemic racism in health care.

HEiA Summit 2022

The Health Equity in Action Summit is part of The Collective’s 10-year commitment to advancing health equity and represents one phase in a long-term approach to create tangible and sustainable change across communities. Since the inaugural Summit in 2022, The Collective and convening partners develop the resulting Action Guide to Disrupt Inequitable Health Outcomes, sharing actionable steps and practical resources, and invested more than $2M in community-led organizations addressing health inequities across four key impact areas.
